Dining to Make a Difference Derby-Style was a Winning Evening!

Thanks to all of those that joined us for Dining to Make a Difference! This event was a huge success, raising over $41,000 for The Ion Center! It was a wonderful evening with 125 guests joining us at the Limestone Event Center in Maysville for food stations, open bar, auction, games, raffles, and more!

One of the highlights of Dining to Make a Difference every year, is having the honor of recognizing someone for going above and beyond for the agency, and/or for the survivors we serve. This year, The Ion Center was thrilled to honor the McKay family as the 2023 Icon Award Winner.

The McKay family has been an incredible supporter of The Ion Center for more than 25 years.  Mrs. Jane McKay raised 9 sons (Pat, Mike, Leo, Joe, Victor, Dennis, Danny, Gerald, and Bernard) and while some of them are now in other states, their roots are in Maysville. As a family, they have been instrumental in their support in so many ways. They were a crucial piece in making Maysville the very first Green Dot City, have worked closely with our agency through law enforcement, planned events such as an ice cream social, served on our board, donated to our shelters and outreach offices, and so much more.  Christy Burch, CEO of the Ion Center says, “the McKay family are true ambassadors in the community for our agency.  We are grateful for their voice and their support through all of these years and are excited to be able to recognize them with this award as a small token of appreciation for all they’ve done for Ion.”  When talking about Mrs. McKay’s legacy, Burch said, “Mrs. McKay experienced so much and raised her amazing family. She inspired such generosity and service leadership and it’s something to aspire to every day.”

Thank you to all the attendees, sponsors, and donors that made Dining to Make a Difference possible!
